Founder, Acrylics
Kelly Kadlec
I have had a love for drawing and painting wildlife since I was a child. My Dad used to take me hunting and fishing and I would get so many great ideas for my next picture. I pursued my art career into high school and college and learned a great deal from my instructors.
I took several years off in my 30's and 40's to raise my family but returned to start painting again about 7 years ago. I have always wanted to give back to young artists and teach students how to paint the way I was taught in my early years. Teaching art is one of the most rewarding careers I can imagine. I love being able to pay it forward to other art students the way I was mentored in my younger years. For me there is nothing better than seeing my students light up once they have completed an amazing piece of work. I can't wait to work with you as you tap into your own creative talents through art.
Drawing, Watercolor, Mixed Media
Lisa Cheney
Born and raised in rural Idaho, Lisa Cheney was drawn to the visual language at a very young age. She received a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration, which offered her 30+ year career in the marketing industry. Since 2009, she has traveled throughout the North/Southwest teaching drawing, painting, bookmaking and Visual Journaling at numerous art retreats and private studios. Her visual journals have been published in numerous books and magazines. In addition to Visual Journaling and Bookarts, Lisa works in many other mediums including painting (watercolor, acrylic, oils, and encaustic), drawing (graphite, ink, mixed media), and printmaking. For the past 10 years she has applied her love of psychology, therapeutic healing arts, and sacred energetic healing into her personal art as well as workshops for women.

Lisa’s passion for teaching art began when her children were young, and she noticed the absence of a formal art program in their school. For eight years, she eagerly volunteered her time and expertise in the classroom. This experience sparked a deep love for teaching, which she extended to adults. “I love reigniting the artist within adults and nurturing the creative spirit in young people! Few things bring me more joy than hearing a student say, ‘I can’t believe I created this!’ with pride in their voice. Drawing, painting, and visual journaling aren’t just fun hobbies—though they certainly can be—they awaken the soul and give voice to the parts of us longing to be heard. Creativity brings joy to our hearts, enriches our lives, and strengthens all aspects of our minds.”
